HOT AND COLD TREATMENTS

Applying hot or ice on the affected area can improve your pain. Placing of ice packs or hot water bottle on the painful skin is effective in relieving pain. Avoid direct placing of ice on to your skin as it may cause a cold burn.

Cortisone injection

An anti-inflammatory medicine called cortisone is injected into the space around the spinal canal. It can reduce infection around the nerve roots.

  • Changing your sleeping position can help reduce your pain.
  • Avoid continuous bed rest. Being active and trying to move will make your recovery easier
  • Lifestyle changes like maintaining a normal body weight, regular exercises and keeping good posture will helpful for your recovery from back pain.

Therapies

Therapies like chiropractic manipulation, massage and acupuncture may produce helpful results. Therapies are helpful for people whose back pain affect their daily activities very badly.

If all of the above treatments fail, you can go for surgical treatments.
